Buenos Aires has the largest Jewish population in Latin America, and one of the seven largest in the world, and the Jewish community has made many contributions to the city’s culture and history.

In this virtual experience, you will learn about the history of Judaism in Argentina, starting with the first Jewish immigrants who arrived in the 1880s.

Hear from your host about a wide range of Jewish Argentinean history, from the peak of their population at the start of the 20th century, the establishment of synagogues, Jewish community centers, and schools in the 1920s, to the horrific attacks on the Jewish embassy and the Jewish federation in the 1990’s.

Fascinating Steve - Dec 2021

We were fascinated by the parallels to the Jewish immigration experience in our own family and community in Canada. Our guide Ilan was extremely knowledgeable and was passionate about his subject. He was very insightful and friendly. We really enjoyed our tour.

A valuable tour Sadie - Mar 2022

Our guide took us on an exceptional tour. She was very knowledgeable not only about Jewish history in Buenos Aires, but also about general and Argentinian history in general. She balanced synagogues with other historical sites. I highly recommend this tour. Go on a Friday afternoon and you'll witness the hustle and bustle before Shabbat as an added bonus as you walk through the Jewish quarters.
